Sacred Heart School opened with 285 students in grades one through eight in 1954. At that time, the Dominican Sisters of Saint Catharine, Kentucky, staffed the school. Over the next 50 years Sacred Heart School has become a vital part of Sacred Heart Parish and of the Jeffersonville community. |

Sacred Heart of Jesus School exists primarily to teach the children of the parish. Therefore, children of parishioners are accepted first; secondly, siblings of current tudents; thirdly, children outside the parish - Catholics before non-Catholics - are accepted if there is room.

Sacred Heart School opened September 13, 1954, with 285 students enrolled in grades one through eight and a faculty of four sisters and two lay teachers. The school and church was formally dedicated on September 19, with Archbishop Paul C. Schulte presiding. |

Sacred Heart of Jesus School collaborates with the home to educate children for Gospel living as Christians who are competent and creative in academics, technology, and the arts; cooperative and compassionate as teachers and learners. |
