I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend. 

           This week we plan to:

READING:  We are going to read The Lost and Found and talk about fantasy and reality.  Our reading strategy this week is Sequence of Events.  We will take an AR quiz over The Lost and Found on Thursday.  I will continue reading the book, There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom and they will take the AR quiz over it on Friday.  We have begun reading AR books and taking AR quizzes independently.  Your student should always have an AR book with them to read.  The book needs to be in their own personal reading level.  Students  should take about 1 quiz per week to stay on track to reach their points and percentage goal for the quarter.

LANGUAGE:  We will have a spelling list from The Lost and Found. We will learn about subjects, predicates, dictionary skills, parts of a book, and commas in dates and places.  We will also continue to review cursive handwriting.

MATH:  We continue Chapter 1 on Numbers and Money.  This week we'll learn about making change.  Our chapter 1 math test will be next week.

SCIENCE: We are learning about forces that change the earth, which is Chapter 2 in Unit C.  This week, we'll learn about weathering and erosion.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We are studying Chapter 12 about Local Governments.  This week we'll talk about electing government leaders and people changing their communities.

RELIGION: We will spend this week preparing for our Mass on Friday.
