Hi, my name is Yvonne Smith and I am the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher. I have been teaching for 18 years all of which have been at Sacred Heart School. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement from Indiana University Southeast. I am a graduate of Sacred Heart School and of Providence High School.
My daughters Abbey Ann Smith and Madeline Marie Smith also attended Sacred Heart School. Abbey is a 2004 Honors Graduate of Our Lady of Providence Jr.-Sr. High School and a 2008 Honors Graduate of Indiana University Southeast College of Education. Abbey is currently a Kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's of New Albany School. Madeline is a junior at Our Lady of Providence Jr.-Sr. High School where she carries a 3.9 GPA and is a 3rd year varsity player on the soccer team. My husband David Smith graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1982 with a B.A. in Communications/Journalism. He is currently the Director of Admissions at Our Lady of Providence Jr.-Sr. High School and has been the school's girls soccer coach since 1999.
My teaching philosophy is to teach with love and respect and receive love and respect in return. Children will model the behavior of their surroundings.
Sacred Heart has been a nurturing environment for myself as a child, and for my daughters. Along with the educational, spiritual and life-preparatory lessons they have learned at Providence, our girls have become outstanding young people who will contribute to making the world a better place. We are grateful to the impact Sacred Heart and Providence have contributed to our girls' development, and I hope to help create a positive, Christian learning experience for the Pre-K students entrusted to me this year and for years to come.
